Poor UX Costing UK Businesses Millions

Let’s begin with a question.

Have you ever been on a company’s website and you cannot what you are looking for even though it should be obvious?

Yep, we’ve all been there and that is a prime example of poor user experience.

And guess what?………

It’s costing businesses millions in lost sales. But real the scary thing is, half of them don’t even know it’s even happening.

Take the airline industry for example, airlines employee vast number of call centre staff to ‘help‘ the customer, but the issue is that many of the questions customers or potential customers are dialling in with are queries that can be found on the airlines website, but poor UX is barricading that and quite frankly putting people off.

With so much information thrust onto us almost constantly and the ability of choice, quite often a website has less than 30 seconds to be useful to a potential customer or they are off.

That means you had better be clear with your instructions and ensure everything on your website is easily accessible quickly.

Attention spans are shorter than they have ever been which is why new research suggest that the ideal advert time is now just 6 seconds.

Every second counts when a visitor uses your website meaning it is up to whoever manages your website to deliver ‘more per second’ to the consumer.

Be it in the way of content or making it clear to them where they need to go in order to find what they want, your UX plays one of the most vital roles in the sales process but is often one of the most neglected.

So, how do I make sure my UX is top notch?

Firstly, make sure that every button on your website clearly indicates what it does.

Sounds pretty obvious, but take the toolbar in Microsoft Word as an example, there is so much information jam packed in there with icons which are not obvious as to what they do making your job a whole lot harder.

Secondly, ensure you website response time is rapid, you can have the best-looking website in the world but if it takes an age to load then no one will ever see it.

Thirdly, talk to us!
