We have all heard the well-known phrase ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’ and never has a truer line been spoken.
When English novelist and playwright Edward Bulwer-Lytton penned those iconic words in his epic historical play ‘Cardinal Richelieu’ in 1839. I bet he did not think that is what he would become most famous for.
However, as it is 2018, it is time to update that phrase somewhat and maybe take out the words ‘the pen’ and replace them with ‘digital marketing’.
Admittedly it does not quite have the same ring to it, but the thought process is the same.
Why I hear you ask?
The answer is rather simple, the world has moved online and although that is nothing new, when you stop to think about it, it is quite consuming.
That is because at the end of June 2017, it was reported that 51% of the world’s population has access to the internet.
Considering there are 7.6 billion people in the world, that percentage becomes even more remarkable.
To put that into even more context, in June 2017, another reported highlighted that 2.5 billion people around the world do not have access to adequate sanitation.
That is a story in its own right and this is not the place to go into it but what it means for you and your business that whether you like it or not, you must have a digital marketing strategy in place if you are to remain competitive for the long-term and also seek out new opportunities to drive your business forward.
